I’ve fired doctors in order to improve my health.
I wanted doctors who care. I wanted the best professional team in my health circle.
Why have I fired doctors?
To get solutions, feel healthier and improve health conditions.
Plain and simple, certain doctors I’ve had in the past were not providing the type of medical care that is required by the American Medical Association. I fired my first doctor in my 20s. (You’re never too young or too old to fire your doctor and find one that better aligns with your health.)
Yes, I have had doctors:
Gaslight me.
Deny referring me to a specialist when I’ve been extremely ill.
Not listen to my health concerns.
Not provide the care they are supposed to.
If you are experiencing any of these (or all of these), I seriously encourage you to fire your doctor. My medical team currently is living proof that there are doctors who truly care, provide incredible medical guidance and help me achieve better health.
Without further ado, follow these 3 simple steps to fire your doctor.
#1: Establish a game plan BEFORE you fire your doctor.
- What do you need to do first? Ask yourself these questions:
- What is my doctor not providing that I need?
- What type of specialist would be best for my health conditions?
- If I can’t determine where to turn, who & what is the best resource so I can fire and find a new doctor?
#2: Contact your health insurance and medical group.
- What type of doctor or specialist could address my concerns and help me reach optimal heath?
- Ask questions. Have your notes from Step #1 available for these calls. Preparation leads to success!
- Review doctor profiles – education, experience, any research they are involved in…anything you can get your hands on.
#3: Schedule and interview your potential new “replacement” doctor.
Remember, you are not yet committed to this new doctor. You are in the “interview stage.” Your health is on the line. Remember that. Truly evaluate how you feel at the initial meeting.
- Does the new doctor listen to you?
- Do they seem experienced and knowledgeable on the health issues you are experiencing?
- Do you feel like you can trust them?
- Do they appear to have your best health interest?
I want you to achieve your health goals, lessen any chronic conditions you live with, and have a good quality of life.
