How to clean a baby’s mouth

Have a newborn and curious how you should clean inside their mouth?

Any of the below are great choices:

• Washcloth
• Gauze
• Rubber toothbrush
• Towel

When is it recommended to take baby to its first dental appointment?

Dr. Daniel Klein, affiliated with the UCLA School of Dentistry, said the first appointment for a baby should be “within 6 months of the first tooth coming in. So typically, the latest is by age 1.”

Once your little one has their first tooth, it’s important to keep track of “the frequency of sugar consumption,” he said.

Incorporating good healthcare practices at a young age goes a long way. Our childhood serves as the building blocks for later in life.

Lead by example.

Dr. Daniel Klein has been practicing dentistry since 2011. He also serves as clinical faculty at UCLA School of Dentistry.
