How many times a day are you seeing a new health trend take over social media?
It is time to set the record straight.
I am grateful that Elissa Goodman, a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, is sharing her expertise and wealth of knowledge on this topic. I knew she was the perfect individual to explain her perspective on which health trends have endured the test of time and consistently have helped, not hurt the human body.
She is an Erewhon Ambassador. For those familiar with Erewhon – you know it is the epitome of health and wellness, always stocked beautifully with the latest and greatest good for you items you will truly not find elsewhere! For those unfamiliar, Erewhon is a one of a kind certified organic retailer and B-Corp that has been in operation since the 1960s that is focused on community (in 2025 it gave back over $2.5 million to more than 20 charities and over 25 tons of food), the planet, and enhancing health.
Which health trends are actually healthy?
“The trends that truly stand the test of time are the least flashy ones: eating whole, minimally processed foods, prioritizing fiber and protein, supporting digestion, and regulating the nervous system through sleep, movement, and stress reduction,” Goodman said.

How do following these healthy habits help us?
“These fundamentals consistently improve blood sugar, inflammation, hormone balance, and long-term vitality without creating burnout or extremes,” Goodman said.
I asked Goodman if there is one health product or wellness trend that should carry a big red flag. Her response?
“Juice cleanses and deprivation-style cleanses are a major red flag.”

What do juice cleanses really do to your body?
“They may create short-term weight loss, but they stress the nervous system, destabilize blood sugar, and often backfire by slowing metabolism and triggering rebound patterns,” Goodman said.
If you’re considering doing a juice cleanse or go to extreme measures with your food/beverage intake… it’s time to think on behalf of what’s best for your body and overall health. In other words, focus on the long run.
What type of health “reset” is best and provides value?
“The resets that actually work are the ones that nourish the body, support digestion, and build sustainable habits, because anything rooted in deprivation eventually falls short,” she said.
What I love about her reflection of health and wellness trends and statements are that it can be simple and accessible to you.
Small changes in your daily routine can make a huge difference for the duration of your life.
